If you find yourself in Keflavik, Iceland and want a place that feels local yet delivers big on flavor, Antons Mamma Mia restaurant is that spot. Conveniently located on the corner of Hafnargata and Aðalgata, this cozy restaurant is within walking distance of most nearby hotels, making it the perfect stop before or after a flight. Here is my Anton’s Mamma Mia Keflavik review.
The atmosphere, food, and service at Anton’s Mamma Mia all live up to the hype. Here’s what makes it a local favorite and why it should be on your Iceland food itinerary.
Antons Mamma Mia Keflavik Review: Ambiance and Setting
Anton’s Mamma Mia blends cozy and industrial perfectly. The dim lighting and exposed wood beams give it a bar-like warmth, while the colorful tables and large front windows brighten the space by day.
TVs play Icelandic channels, a massive map of the world decorates the wall, and the bar counter doubles as a social hub where locals grab a drink or pay their tab. The hanging wine glasses and the dark, low-hue palette make it the kind of place you could easily lose track of time in.
Antons Mamma Mia Keflavik Review: The Dish That Stole the Show
While I dined solo (you can read why over on my travel blog), one dish completely won me over: the Pasta Spaghetti Lobster & Shrimp.
The seafood was perfectly cooked, juicy, fresh, and lightly seasoned so the flavor of the lobster actually stood out. The pasta absorbed all that buttery, garlicky richness, making every bite ridiculous in the best way.

At roughly 4,300 ISK (~$31 USD), it’s pricier than your average meal, but honestly? It’s worth it. You’re in Iceland, seafood is an art form here.
For comparison, most of the menu sits in the $20–30 USD range, which is fair considering the quality.
More Than Just Pasta
Anton’s Mamma Mia has something for everyone:
-
Pizza & Calzone
-
Pasta dishes
-
Seafood plates
-
Steaks & Burgers
-
Fresh salads
-
Kids’ menu options
It’s the kind of place where you can bring anyone, and everyone will find something they love.
Service That Feels Personal

Service here goes beyond good, it’s personal. My waitress not only made sure my meal was perfect, she took time to chat about Iceland’s linguistic history and asked where I was visiting from.
When she learned I was from Maryland (USA), she showed me the large map filled with visitor pins and noticed no one had marked my state yet. She handed me a pin and said, “Now Maryland can finally be part of our map.”
It’s small moments like that that turn a good meal into a memory.
